X in Texas Wood Fire Grill Salmonella Outbreak and Litigation

In January 2015, Coon Memorial Hospital in Dalhart, Texas reported an increase in patients diagnosed with Salmonella infections. Public health officials in Dalhart and at the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) initiated an outbreak investigation to determine if patients shared a common exposure such as travel, food or animal contact. By mid-February the local news website www.myhighplains.com reported that at least 30 people had been diagnosed with Salmonella. Many of the patients had eaten at the X in Texas Wood Fire Grill, a restaurant located in Dalhart. The restaurant had voluntarily closed for cleaning and sanitation and then reopened. In mid-March the outbreak was declared to be over. In total 64 cases of Salmonella were linked to the X in Texas Wood Fire Grill.

All complaints have been resolved.
