On the Border Mexican Restaurant Salmonella Outbreak Lawsuits

Marler Clark represents over a dozen clients in litigation resulting from a 2012 Salmonella outbreak at the On the Border Mexican restaurant in Vancouver, WA. The firm filed its first lawsuit against On the Border on October 16, 2012 on behalf of an Oregon couple who became ill with Salmonellainfections shortly after eating at the restaurant in late September. Two additional lawsuits were filed against the restaurant on October 18, 2012. They were filed on behalf of Washington residents.

According to Clark County Public Health, at least 117 confirmed and suspected Salmonella cases were associated with the consumption of food purchased at On the Border restaurant. Both restaurant patrons and employees fell ill with Salmonella serotype virchow, an uncommon strain that had never before been reported in Clark County before the On the Border outbreak. Testing conducted on food samples did not provide a conclusive source of the Salmonella outbreak.

Mediation of the On the Border Salmonella claims is pending.
