Jimmy John's Sprouts Salmonella Outbreak and Litigation

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has announced an investigation into a multi-state Salmonella Montevideo outbreak linked to sprouts sold at Jimmy John's restaurants.

Currently, there are 8 reported cases across three states: Illinois (2), Minnesota (1), and Wisconsin (5). The onset dates are from December 20 through January 3, 2018. No hospitalizations or deaths have been reported.

To reduce risk, Illinois health officials have requested that all Jimmy John’s restaurants in Illinois remove sprouts from their menus until the end of the investigation.

Jimmy John's announced that it has directed all locations to stop serving sprouts as a precautionary measure after receiving seven complaints in Illinois and Wisconsin. The decision was made after an investigation indicated that sprouts purchased from two growers in Minnesota could be linked to the complaints.

Marler Clark has filed a lawsuit against Jimmy John's on behalf of one individual who was sickened.
